Cedar Bay Cherry, also called Beach Cherry (Eugenia Reinwardtiana), native to Australia and belonging to Myrtaceae family, grows to a 2-6 meter tall shrub. Its flowers are white in colour and centrally clustered. Its 2 - 2.5 cm diameter, bright orange-red fruit has a juicy soft flesh surrounding its cherry-like pit. It has the flavour of cherry combined with a tinge of grape and can be eaten without any processing. It flowers and fruits in Kerala, though it is rarely found here.
