Gangabondam coconuts are famous in east coast for its taste of water and soft delicious copra. It is ideal for tender coconut. Seed nuts are collected from at least 10 years old mother palm to produce seedlings. It is ideal general purpose cultivar, suitable for both tender coconut and mature coconut. It produces soft delicious copra with sweet water. Flowering starts within three years after plantation under good management. It produces upto 250 to 300 nuts per annum per tree. The color of coconut is green with a papaya shape. The tender coconut at 7 months contains 250-400 ml sweet coconut water. Gangabondam is the least maintained, more robust native crop. It attains a height of 30 feet over time. It is traditionally cultivated in commercial farms in Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal.
