Duku Langsat is a fruit that originates from Indonesia. Duku Langsat is another variant of the fruit commonly known as Langsat in Kerala.There are 4 types of fruits namely Duku, Langsat, Longkong and Duku Langsat. The differences are below.
1.Langsat - The smallest fruit among these varieties, slightly sour sweet, less fleshy part and good bitterness to the pulp.
2.Duku- It is ahead of Langsat in size. With a nice thick crust, sour and sweet, seed is less bitter but the fleshy part is a bit difficult to separate from the seed.
3. Longkong- also known as Dokong. Duku-sized Longkong fruit is a delicious, sweet to eat. The downside is that fruiting is generally less.
4.Duku Langsat- This fruit is a hybrid of Duku and Langsat. This is the best fruit among these 4 varieties. When the light brown skin is broken open, inside are white coloured, very delicious and sweet fleshy segments.It is a fruit that can be quickly separated from the pulp. Good fruit set and long shelf life make Duku Langsat an ideal variety for commercial cultivation.Budded plants will yield in 4 to 5 years.
