"Rambutan Jarum emas," a rare Malaysian variety whose name means "Golden Needle," is known for its long, golden, hairy, and bright red fruits. The fruits are extremely juicy, sweet, and flavorful. When fully ripe, they have a thin skin and thick flesh that easily detaches from the seed. This variety fruits in attractive bunches and can be successfully cultivated in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and other South Indian states. Budded plants will begin to yield fruit in three years.
